I started my Etsy experience with this shop in 2009. I made hand-painted cloth dolls, punch needle items, sock monkeys and offered vintage and antique finds. Eventually I made my way into jewelry design and for quite a long time, I focused on jewelry. That lead me to my position as Lead Program Instructor at Studio 700, an art program for adults with developmental disabilities, teaching Bead Art and Felting. I loved that job and the incredible people I was blessed to work with.
Sadly, the program had to downsize in response to COVID-19. Our clients are immunosuppressed, and it was wisely decided that a face-to-face program was not in their best health interest. So now I am working on my shop and staying connected to the many friends I made at Studio 700. It's a really great program, and hopefully will be able to reopen safely and soon.
During this time of Covid, I have returned to my love of weaving and am creating simple woven items for the home. I find that work relaxing and inspiring. I am a simple weaver, but I really love it and have created a lot of items for friends and family, as well as myself, during this time.
Art is escape. It is creative play. It brings people into your life and bonds you with them forever. Art takes the everyday and makes it amazing. It is healing, searching, inventing...art is love.
Take care and good health and joy to you!
